Barossa Valley based duo “Free Genie” are husband and wife duo Gian Wagland and Cloudy Davey. With a collective thirty years in the industry “Free Genie” have been performing throughout the state.  Cloudy’s uniquely beautiful voice and singing ability matched with Gian’s guitar prowess makes “Free Genie” a force to be reckoned with.  Playing a wide variety of covers from the 60’s through to the present, coupled with lush harmonies and a strong sense of rhythm and melody “Free Genie” display a relaxed confidence which invites the audience to engage with them.

Free Genie’s second album “Round Up The Sunshine” offers some of their best work to date. Many of the songs on it have already been worked into their live performances and been warmly embraced by their loyal fan base. The songs are all beautifully crafted, often poignant gems, rich with sublime marriages of lyric and melody. The vocals are intoxicating and vibrant in their offering and deliver a genuine sustenance to the soul that lingers long after the initial listen. The storylines are relevant and accessible to the listener and invoke a level of imagery and emotion that makes them feel instantly familiar to the audience.

This fact is both evidenced by and further enhanced through the seamless integration into the songs of contributions by guest artists on the recordings. It features the likes of Clare Moore (The Moodists, Dave Graney & The Coral Snakes, The Dames), Gleny Rae Virus (Toe Sucking Cowgirls, Glenny Rae Virus and her Tamworth Playboys), Bernie Bremond (Innocent Bystanders, Johnny Diesel & The Injectors, Pfea), Toby Robinson (Dave Garnham & The Reasons To Live), Victorian trio Cousin Leonard and many other wonderful local and interstate artists.
